Dear Colleagues,

Back during the Ohio Art Education Association’s 2018 Conference in Sandusky, I had the privilege of presenting to some of you about the programs and resources available to educators from the Ohio Arts Council(OAC), a state agency dedicated to funding and supporting quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.

During this presentation, I discussed the OAC’s newest arts learning program – TeachArtsOhio – aimed at expanding learning opportunities through the arts and increasing academic achievement through schools’ collaboration with a professional artist in the classroom. I wanted to follow up on this program and provide some additional details that may be of interest.

The Ohio Arts Council is now accepting applications to its TeachArtsOhio program for projects occurring during the 2019-2020 school year. Updated Guidelines are available on the OAC website and schools can now begin their applications in the OAC’s online grants management system, ARTIE. The deadline to apply for FY 2020 TeachArtsOhio applications is February 1, 2019, but I recommend schools submit sooner.

I know it’s a busy time of year, but I wanted to be sure I reached out to let you know where things stand for next school year and encourage conversations between you and your colleagues who might be interested in the TeachArtsOhio program. Each school may apply for its own TeachArtsOhio grant, and grants cover all artist fees associated with hosting a resident teaching artist.

If you are interested in applying, please reach out to me via email or phone (614-728-4481) and I will be happy to assist you in beginning the application process. Should you have any questions or would like to discuss further, please also don’t hesitate to reach out.

Together, we look forward to expanding your classroom toolkit through more engaging, personal, and high-quality arts learning experiences.

Happy 2019!
