About NorthWest

Welcome to Northwest! The Northwest Ohio Art Education Association, is geographically, the largest of nine regions that comprise the OAEA.

Being a member allows you to take part in our professional development workshops, local and state art shows, and our annual November Conference. Recently, we have had workshops on bringing technology in the classroom, simple batik for all levels and fusing glass. Membership provides networking opportunities for those studying art education and connections to those who work in our many art institutions. Please contact our Membership Chair, Dawn [email protected][email protected]. Dawn will be happy to assist you in the simple process of joining the most relevant arts education association in the state of Ohio!

Teacher Feature
Jean Imes

Jean Imes has outstanding skills as an art educator. In fact, she has been named as one of the  NWOAEA OATs for 2016.  Jean is the Art Teacher at Waterville Elementary in Waterville, Ohio. She was Northwest’s previous Regional Director. Under her leadership, she started an on-line newsletter and expanded Northwest’s social media. She was Off-site Workshop Chair for the 2013 Toledo Conference. In the classroom, Jean has incorporated fused glass and pottery into her elementary curriculum. Her students brainstorm and draw in sketchbooks they create. Her students are encouraged to create individual artwork. She runs a small army of classroom volunteers to ensure her students’ works are mounted, framed and submitted to art shows.
