Awards

There is no better way to support excellence in art education than to nominate a worthy candidate for an award. Thank you for the time it will take you to complete a nomination.

Requesting letters of recommendation from an art educator's administrators brings them into the picture as they reflect on the worth of their art educator and his or her art program. The Service Awards to citizens, educators, and business/organizations recognize those outside the profession who give to it. By supporting our supporters, we express appreciation and engender continued support. Please follow the requirements and meet deadlines listed below.

2008 Awards Update

The divisional awards will now be processed by the Division Chairs! Please use the following forms:

 

General Information

  • All forms may be handwritten or typed.
  • All letters of support must be typed and no longer than ONE PAGE.
  • Two letters of support are required. That means two separate letters, not one letter that is signed by two people.
  • Standardized Vita form is available on the OAEA website, under “Member Opportunities, Awards.”
  • Vitas must be typed and be no more than the two pages indicated.
  • Indicate the REGION of the nominee on all forms.
  • Name and address of the current Awards Chairperson is available on the website. Check the website for up-to-date information.
  • Photos may be submitted electronically or as actual prints. All photos must be clearly identified with nominees name.
  • Nominators and nominees must be members of OAEA at the time nominations are submitted.

ALL support paperwork due to Awards Chair
by Feb. 14.

 

DECISIONS / VOTING
  • At March Board meeting, Service Awards packets distributed to Board.
  • Voting immediately or mail back to Awards Chair within 2 weeks.
  • Winners announced in May ARTline and on website.
  • By March Board meeting, nominees Bios and photos given to ARTline editor for publication.
  • Voting before school year is over.
  • At March Board meeting, packets of nominees distributed to awards committee for selection.
  • Voting completed and back to Awards Chair by April 1.
  • Winners announced in May ARTline.

Museum Teacher Award

  • Selection made by Museum Division.
  • Award presented at convention by the Awards Chair.
  • See also the individual timeline for OAT in OAT section.
  • Nominations made to RD of Region and completed by Convention.
  • Any run-offs made within region and organized / arranged by the RD.
  • All support materials for winners sent to Awards Chair by Feb. 14. Announcement of winners made to region in Feb. / March.
